Oasis are coming. The Farm beat me 7-3 at football

Or is that soccer?

June is a low booze month. At least that’s what I’m telling myself. Ever since I got back from L.A as a married man I’ve been in a state of almost constant celebratory dinners, bbq’s, partys, gigs and er sporting events.

A week ago myself and the guys at In The City (work) played 3 games of 5-aside in the John Peel World cup over in Liverpool. We would have played more except we really sucked. I mean, we had never played together anyway and in true music industry fashion at least 80% of the team (5 including 3 subs) smoke and 60% NEVER exercise. Ever.

We got thrashed something like 7-3 by ageing Liverpool band The Farm. Altogether now, in no-mans land… you know the song, got to number one twice I think. Anyway they are all in their 40’s and fat whereas we are all in our 20’s and 30’s and less fat, but age wasn’t a good enough ally and clearly they’ve played together before. That’s my excuse anyway. For three days afterwards I felt like I’d been punched everywhere and I could barely climb the stairs for the first two of them. And I’m not in the 60% bracket either. I was just using muscles I’m not used to using. I mean, I use weights but I guess don’t run enough anymore. So… back to the start.

June is a low booze month. I decide at the weekend that’s it – minimal boozing. Perhaps the odd one.. but aside that nothing as I’ve got a six pack to reacquaint myself with. No, not that kind of six pack. I’m going to my wife’s Uncles birthday (now my Uncle too I guess) in mid June so there is one exception to the rule. But aside that. Nowt.

I then get an email yesterday from a friend who films all Oasis stuff asking if I want to go see them on Sunday at Heaton Park which is literally a 10 minute walk from my house. “Yes, that would be awesome!” I reply. Ok so that’s Sunday written off too.

No worries. But aside that, I’m taking the health kick majorly seriously.

Part of the process of moving to L.A takes place in a few weeks and it will be both a medical and police check. Well the latter I’m cool with as I’m a goody two shoes. I’m also cool with the former but I want to feel completely fit for it. I mean, I’ll be fine for it anyway (touch wood) but it’s just good to give yourself a goal and to stick to it as you do feel great for it in the end. That and in L.A its no good to be a porker.

Next time… teeth whitening?
